Wieskirche and the Brettleweg across the nearby moos.
About Wieskirche in Steingaden
A quick (45 minute) Sunday morning drive to the Steingaden area to see the UNESCO listed pilgrimage church, listen to the Pentecost service and walk across the forested meadow. It is a wonderful Baroque church out in the middle of beautiful Allgau countryside. More of a Cathederal than a parish church, the interior is amazing. The immense organ can be heard for at least a kilometer outside the church and has a very rich sound. It even has a couple of angel balconies at the very top of the church. The carved pews are also very special. We also tooka short excursion along the Brettlweg to experience Spring in the local moos wetlands. Swampy wooded meadows here have a wooden plank walkway to let you cross the moos and hike to Steingaden proper if you wish. Kathy is still recevering from issues with her feet so we turned around halfway and went back home for a tasty lunch.weg to see the Roman ruins.
