Down a twisty road filled with fast moving glacial water.....
About Landeck
Down the valley, along the Inn where it meets the Sanna River lies the town of Landeck. After a tasty Doner and Durum in town, we drove back up the Inn a minute or two to the castle. Our timing was in fact quite good as a wedding was just breaking up and after a few minutes wait for the wedding party to depart a parking spot was easily obtained. A really nice small castle with a local museum all for 7€. Europe is such a bargain these days. You have to work hard to find a museum over 10€ to visit. If you add a quick doner lunch for under 10€, you get a day's entertainment, a filling lunch, and a drink of your choice - including a fine local beer - for under 20€! The museum was great, the view from the tower was spectacular too. They were showing an old film clip of the area from the twenties and the river was just as high, just as full of rock and just as fast then. At the top of this valley, you can continue on to either St. Moritz or Morlino in Italy. That will be another motor trip as these are two of the most famous Alpine pass drives in Europe.
