I was so excited about going to Italy and getting on the road earlier that I drove too far and missed the exit for all the castles we were supposed to see the first day. Instead of exiting at Shiaves, I went 30 km too far and didn’t exit the Autostrade until almost Bolzano. The road we chose was very pleasant and after going a few kilometers a magnificent panorama of the Dolomites appeared. We forgot about the castles and really enjoyed a fine morning drive. We pulled off at Lake Carezza and joined about 200 other tourists strolling around the lake. At about 1500 meters, the lake is extremely clear and has a slight blue color really accenting the reflections of mountains and forest nearby. The trail took about 30 minutes and was the perfect break. Kathy was able to have her morning milk coffee as well. Then we were off towards our base for the visit in Padova. We stopped for lunch at Billy Tacos in Bellumo – their specialty is French Tacos filled with French Fries. After lunch we completed the days drive to our hotel in Padova arriving around 1430.
