A beautiful Alsatian town on the German border...
About Wissembourg
Retirement time is approaching and we are looking for places to retire in Europe, probaly France. Wissembourg is a quaint small town right on the border. It has the advantage of allowing us to use both our language skills - my German and Kathy's French. Also the best of both cultures and cuisines. The White Castle has all the half-timbered charm of the Alsace plus a canal that flows through the town square. Check out the pictures below. It is a popular tourist destination. The church is a former Bendictine Monestary and very beautiful. Certainly not a large as the Ulm Minster earlier in the weekend, but has a very great feeling of being part of the community. It has an amazing organ and concerts are regularly given here. They also organize tours of other great organs in the area. We are seriously considering this town for retirement...
