About Our drive home from Italy

Normally, I schedule these Italian jaunts so we come home on a Saturday or Monday. I slipped up and we tried the Brenner Pass on a Sunday Afternoon. Traffic like this doesn't happen even in LA. All the weekend traffic funnels up a single Autostrade that needed to be fixed 10 years ago. Perennially under construction, collapsed to 1 or 2 lanes every 10 km or so. We got our favorite town of Vipitiano around 1500. After nearly 30 minutes of not moving, we turned around, put our last 50€ note in the gas tank and set off up and over 3 different passes to get to Austria. Kathy took the wheel and drove over two of my bucket list passes on the way to a late Doner in Telfs Austria around 5 hours later. Normally this takes 45 minutes over the Brenner. Enjoy some pics we were able to snap on the way home over the Timmelsjoch. By the way the pass closes at 2000 - we made it by about 40 minutes.
